Common auto-attendant voicemail greetings

All voicemail systems we sell come with a built in auto-attendant. (Enough for 2 - 4 different companies) The Auto Attendant is a recorded message that will route calls to the appropriate telephone or department. We can set the auto attendant to answer ALL your calls first, OR we can make it ring at reception (or whoever else's phone) and have it jump to the automated attendant when there's no answer.

This page contains the basic texts that are most often used with all Norstar* voicemail systems. It's important to prepare these texts in advance once you've purchased a voicemail system or place a service call to re-record these messages.. (Anytime before the technician shows up is good) :)

We are located in Montreal, Quebec so we usually recommend the default language to be french. It can be reversed and default to english.

Main Menu French: (This message automatically plays after the greeting)

Si vous connaisez le numero du poste de la personne que vous desirez joindre, composer le maintenant.
Pour le repertoire telephonique, faites le #.
Pour la reception, faites le zero ou restez en ligne.

(You can add departments in there too. For example : For sales, press 1, for accounting, press 2, for our address and fax number press 3, etc etc)

Main Menu English :

If you know the extension number of the person you would like to reach, please dial it now.
To use the company directory, press the # key.
For reception, dial zero.

(You can add departments in there too. For example : For sales, press 1, for accounting, press 2, for our address and fax number press 3, etc etc)

Common add-ons to the main menu :

- Lots of people like to add their fax number, website, and address in there too. In the main menu, you can add "For our contact information, please dial 1" (any number between 1 and 8) which would then forward to a recorded message that plays that information, then returns to the main menu.

- Sometimes people like to list extensions right in the main menu. "For the boss man, dial 222, for Joe, 223, etc etc etc". This isn't suggested though because if one of those people leave we need to re-record the entire message,

-You can list departments. For Sales press 1, or for accounting press 2, etc etc etc.
